Welcome to Our 2011 Schools Programme
TelstraClear Pacific has been successfully operating for five years, and during this period we have had the privilege of welcoming well over 1.3 million people within the venue.
The central purpose and role of TelstraClear Pacific has been defined as “a multi purpose Events Centre for all the people of Manukau --- promoting art, culture, business and leisure, and to celebrate our excellence and diversity.”
One of our continuing achievements we are most proud of is our Schools Programme, which commenced in 2004, even before the centre itself opened. Schools visited the construction site and enjoyed free school curriculum related programmes. Today, the Schools Programme continues with a focus on the arts.
For 2011, we have expanded our commitment to our Schools Programme. With the assistance of our sponsors, we are proud to present a new programme with three streams:
• EXPERIENCE Venue-based free workshops in support of NZ Ministry of Education curriculum
• ENGAGE Arts experience programme combining venue-based and school-based learning
• ACCESS School access to space, performances and events at student rates
This year we are pleased to introduce Project Light Bulb, our main programme for the Engage Stream. Project Light Bulb is an arts residency programme where artists visit the schools to conduct workshops with students and teachers. Another highlight for this year is the return of Royal NZ Ballet’s TOWER Tutus on Tour with a new production of the beloved children’s classic, Pinocchio. Last but not least, the consistent sell-out concert World Vision’s Kids for Kids is back to endear audiences with pop songs sung by children’s choirs from different schools.
Luisa and Joseph on our team, with the external support of Sally Markham, Kelly Nicholls and many artists, look forward to working with you and your pupils.
